Half Moon Inn, Clayhidon, Devon

A traditional village pub on the Blackdown Hills with spectacular views over the Culm Valley. Expect a warm welcome, a good selection of ales, and mouth watering homemade food with daily changing specials. The sharing boards are very popular, as are the British pub classics – Beer Battered Cod & Chips, Extra Matured Dexter Sirloin Steak, and the Half Moon Half Pound Beef Burger. The inn is believed to have been built in the 13th century as two cottages for stone masons working on the church next door; the original path between them is still a right of way, now only used on Rogation Sunday when quite a procession comes through! Have a walk in the hills and then come here for a baguette or ploughmans and if the sun is shining, take it out to the beer garden and enjoy the peace and quiet and the view.
