The Fisherman’s Cot, Bickleigh, Tiverton, Devon

On the banks of the River Exe in the peaceful village of Bickleigh, near Tiverton, The Fisherman’s Cot is a historic country pub where a low thatched roof, chimneys and tall windows ooze quintessential charm; inside is traditional with wooden beams and old fireplaces to sit by when it’s chilly outside, on those lazy summer days and balmy evenings the best place to be is the beer garden where the river rolls under the bridge and on its way, and willows languidly dip their branches into the water. This is where life slows down, where good food, good company and wonderful views of the Devon countryside are to be enjoyed.

The food is pub classics with a modern twist; there are steaks and grills, a carvery and Sunday roasts to savour. Nibble on olives and halloumi fried whilst you wait; tuck into starters of Baked lamb Koftas, Buttermilk chicken tenders or marinated cherry tomato bruschetta, then move onto your mains - Honey & mustard glazed ham hock, Sweet potato & chickpea curry, Fish & chips or Pie of the day.

If there’s a big group of you and you’re celebrating something special, you can book one of the cosy dining spaces, get together and make merry.

Dogs are welcome in the bar area.
