West Dorset Coast

Just over the border of East Devon are some gorgeous beaches on the West Dorset coast, part of the world famous Jurassic Heritage site. Fish for mackerel from the shore or go out on a boat trip; bass, cod and plaice are regularly caught in these waters. These mostly pebbly beaches are lovely for a walk along the shore and some are dog friendly, like Cogden beach and at certain times of the year, Charmouth. Sit and watch the sunset, throw skimmers into the sea, and hunt for fossils. Stroll along the promenade or through the gardens at Lyme Regis, walk through the woods to Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast of Great Britain, stroll the fields, lanes and cliff paths on Stonebarrow Hill. Retire to one of the cosy pubs for a relaxing pint or for dinner – The Anchor at Seatown, the New Inn at Eype, or the Royal Oak at Charmouth.
