This gorgeous holiday house has a private indoor pool, a hot tub, and a play area for the litt’luns.

Blushings Barn is really easy to get to from the M5, and it’s just off the A38, yet hidden away in a very private setting. Just down the road is Wellington, a quiet town with supermarkets, a traditional butchers shop, a grocers, bakers and a very good fishmonger. The county town of Taunton is sightly further, with a range of well-known stores and independent shops. There’s a multiplex cinema and a bowling alley on the outskirts of town, and a high ropes activity centre and golf course at Vivary Park.

This part of Somerset lies within the Blackdown Hills AONB so there’s plenty of exploring to be done. If you want incredible views stroll up to Wellington Monument or Culm Beacon; for tranquillity and nature, go for an amble round Otterhead Lakes or the paths and trails at Staple Hill. It’s easy to tie in a walk with lunch or a pint of the local brew at a country pub; The Culm Valley Inn, The Martlett at Langford Budville and the Holman Clavel are all good.

If you fancy a day trip to the beach, you can be on the Jurassic Coast within an hour. Charmouth is good for rockpools and fossil hunting, at Lyme Regis you can try your hand at mackerel fishing, visit the little aquarium at the end of the harbour and take the kids to Dinosaurland Fossil Museum. Beer is good for crab sandwiches on the beach and for a ride on the miniature train at Pecorama. Catch a steam train with the West Somerset Railway to Minehead or Blue Anchor for a day on the sands, get out and discover the wilds of the Quantock Hills where you can have a lazy picnic at the top of Wills Neck, visit Coleridge Cottage, or say hello to the animals at Tropiquaria Wildlife Park.

Exmoor National Park is great for a day spent roaming the wooded hillsides and deep river valleys; Watersmeet and Tarr Steps are wonderful, in Dunster you can go to the medieval castle on the hill (NT) and the kids will love Exmoor Zoo. Round it off with a proper job cream tea in a cosy tea room before winding your way back to Blushings Barn for a swim, a barbecue, a game of pool and a restful nights’ sleep. Good times are waiting to be shared, memories are waiting to be made, come and find your luxury togetherness!
