Formerly two river workers' cottages, Riverside is now a charming holiday retreat on the banks of the Tone with far reaching views out over the Somerset Levels. Set back off the road in a peaceful hamlet just outside the village of Stoke St Gregory, the property combines elegant modern styling with rural charm and quirky touches; in short, it's bliss. 6 bedrooms sleep 12 guests, there’s a games room, a hot tub, a play room for younger children and in the enclosed garden, swings and a play area with a hand-built pirate boat. Perfect for those family holidays and short breaks where you just want to relax and get away from it all - whether it's for a week long holiday, a 4 night midweek break, or a 3 night weekend to celebrate something special.

The Somerset Levels have a unique beauty of their own; the ancient landscape is traced with tracks to walk and rhynes (pronounced reens) where withies have been grown for hundreds of years for the basket making trade. At the back of the house you can stroll along the river to Burrow Mump, climb to the top, and back down to the King Alfred Inn for lunch. A few miles up the road is Coates English Willlow with nature walks, a museum and a tea room.

Spend a morning mooching around Somerton, or Langport, or venture over to mystical Glastonbury and climb the Tor. Take a trip to Wells to visit the cathedral and the Bishop's Palace, go to Muchelney to see the Abbey ruins, the Priest's House (NT) and the parish church with painted angels on the 17th century wagon roof.

Catch the latest cricket match or racing day at Taunton, less than 30 minutes’ drive, or further afield, explore the heather-clad heaths of Exmoor National Park, stopping off at beauty spots like Tarr StepsWatersmeet or Porlock where you can tuck into a scrumptious cream tea in a little tea shop. For days by the sea, head over to the Jurassic Coast; go out on a mackerel fishing boat at Lyme Regis, take the kids to Dinosaurland Fossil Museum and the Marine Aquarium at the end of the harbour. While away an afternoon by the shore at Beer, have a crab sandwich at Ducky’s Beach Café, ride around the gardens at Pecorama on the miniature train, see the cathedral-like caverns at Beer Quarry Caves.

Treat yourselves to dinner in one of the local pubs; The Firehouse at Curry Rivel does amazing stone baked pizzas, The Canal Inn at Wrantage is great for seafood, and The Bird in Hand at North Curry serves very good pub food. Back at Riverside, have a soak in the hot tub beneath the leafy arbour, enjoy a family game of pool or table tennis before turning in for a restful night's sleep. Happy days await you at this idyllic large group holiday house, come and make the happiest memories. Book today!
