Bath Abbey, Bath, Somerset

Amongst the things to see at Bath Abbey are the beautiful fan vaulted ceiling, the organ, which has a staggering 4,000 pipes, and some incredible stained glass in the West Window and the Great East Window. Climb the 212 steps on a Tower Tour and you’ll have the most staggering views over the city of Bath to the countryside beyond. In the floor are a record 891 ledgerstones (flat gravestones), which is more than any other floor in the UK.

Take the family or whilst they're browsing around the shops, just go and admire the architecture and soak up the peace and serenity. Allow 45 mins to one and a half hours for your visit, or whizz round and see the highlights in about 30 minutes. Pop in the shop afterwards for a souvenir.
