Cranborne Chase, Wiltshire

It isn’t difficult to see why this is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; it is indeed beautiful, utterly so. The Cranborne Chase actually straddles the borders of Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset and Somerset so the landscape is varied; chalk grasslands, rolling hills and river valleys, downland hillsides and ancient woodlands are interspersed with picturesque villages.
Get out and about and explore the wide open spaces by walking the many footpaths, cycling or pony trekking. The rich chalk streams afford many happy hours to anglers, and the views are incredible, stretching on and on, far out across the countryside to meet the sky.
Make your own discoveries among the country inns that you’ll find if you pootle about, visit some of the well know attractions in the area – Stourhead House, Old Wardour Castle, Salisbury and its cathedral, but most of all enjoy all that natural beauty; it’s breathtaking.
