Eastbourne, East Sussex

If you’re looking to spend days by the sea when you’re on your large group holiday in East Sussex, head to sunny Eastbourne, a place that’s really on the up, where there’s plenty to see and do. Just an amble around is pleasant enough; go people watching along the promenade or at the marina, stop for something to eat, have fish and chips on the pier, see what’s on at The Bandstand or at Devonshire Park Theatre. Play mini golf at Helen Garden, browse the galleries in town, go kayaking, paddleboarding or windsurfing with Buzz Active. There are over 5 miles of sand and shingle beaches, so pack the sarnies, set up your deckchairs, roll up your trousers and go for a paddle!

Book for dinner at one of the many restaurants – Yoku Sushi for Japanese and Asian food, Gr/Eat Greek Deli and Cuisine for Mediterranean, or Bibendum if you like gastropubs. And that great British tradition of afternoon tea? It has to be done when you’re by the sea and there are several cafes and tea rooms, but stick with conventions and go to the Grand Hotel right on the seafront.
