Exmoor Owl & Hawk Centre, near Minehead, Somerset

You can visit Exmoor Owl & Hawk Centre near Porlock whatever the weather’s doing because they're open all year and have an indoor flying barn and a tea room for refreshments. Of course, it’s always better when the sun is shining, and if it is, you can take your time and enjoy your lunch in the picnic area.

They have over a dozen types of owl here, as well as a buzzard, Palm Nut vulture, Tawny eagle and two Harris hawks - you'll see some of them in the flying displays and if you book a Bird of Prey Experience you'll have a chance to get up close to them. Whilst you're here, have a stroll around, see the alpacas and the kune kune pigs and watch out for the colourful macaws flying free. The setting is magical; a beautiful 15th century NT farmhouse in the prettiest gardens surrounded by the spectacular countryside of Exmoor National Park; have lunch or tea and scones in the garden on sunny days, or in the tea shop when it's not so clement.

Also at Exmoor Owl & Hawk Centre is Exmoor Riding; get out and discover Exmoor on horseback, reconnect with nature, it's an amazing way to see the beautiful scenery in these here parts.
