Heddington, Calne, Wiltshire

Heddington is another of those peaceful Wiltshire villages where life trips along nicely; there are the usual attractive cottages, big old houses and rambling farmsteads, and a very nice church, all with the backdrop of the undisputably beautiful scenery of the Pewsey Vale – great for walking, horse riding and cycling. Every year they have a steam fair here, which is when the pub, The Ivy, tends to get packed. It’s a good pub anyway, run by a local chap who’s kept it all traditional and very much a hub of the community, just like a village pub should be.
