Killerton House & Gardens, nr Exeter, Devon

Killerton House is a National Trust property set on a quintessentially English estate of over 6,400 acres near Exeter; all that parkland, woods and gardens waiting to be explored – just imagine! Go off and build a den, hunt for bugs, spot wildlife, oh, and just wait till you see the Bear’s Hut and the Ice House - both are fascinating.

At the heart of the estate is the 18th century Killerton House, renowned for its costume collection; wander around the ground floor and soak up the history whilst the young 'uns try to find the Builder Mice. As in typical NT style, there's plenty going on at Killerton - a monthly Farmer’s Market, Forest Schools, and a shop that sells second hand books and produce from the estate. There's a cafe too of course, so go and treat yourself to a slice of homemade cake, or if you want to stay for lunch find a table at the Killerton Kitchen Restaurant and tuck into something freshly made to order.

Every Saturday there's a 5k Park Run for the whole family (even the pet pooch) and if you come in late October there's a Pumpkin Trail, which is rather fun.

Park and gardens open daily 10.30 am – to dusk.   House opening times vary throughout the year.
