Monmouth, Monmouthshire

This Welsh border town is the birthplace of Henry V and is where the River Wye meets the Monnow; it’s well known for the 13th century gatehouse bridge, the only fortified one left in Britain. There’s plenty going on in the town and the air is vibrant, with the streets often full of hustle and bustle as people go about their day. Music lovers flock here for the annual Monmouth Festival, and for the one-day Monmouthshire Show.
Spend time here and you’ll find that Monmouth has everything you need for your holiday; excellent supermarkets, a leisure centre, a theatre, museums, a multitude of independent shops, and plenty of places to eat; for casual and cosy go to the tucked away Whole Earth Café Bistro, or try the upbeat vibe of Estero Lounge. Popular restaurants are La Piccola Italia and Mocos Mexican; for pub food try the Punch House in the square.
There are some delightful walks from the town; you can stroll along the banks of the Wye, or up to the Kymin, a late 18th century roundhouse built for private banqueting on the hill above the town;  the views up there are incredible and on a clear day you can see 10 counties.
Golf fanatics can book a round at the nearby Monmouth Golf Club and if you want to take to the waters go to Monmouth Canoe for canoe and kayak hire.
Plenty to do, plenty to see whilst enjoying your large group holiday in Monmouthshire.
