Smugglers Kitchen, Beer, Devon

Smugglers Kitchen is on the main street in the peaceful fishing village of Beer on the East Devon coast; it’s fair to say that it’s a bit of a gem. It’s a family run restaurant with a focus on relaxed dining and seriously good food from a regularly changing menu that showcases the best of the produce from in and around the local area. The setting is quirky and characterful; old stone walls with exposed timbers showing, mismatched furniture, that kind of thing, but it all adds up to somewhere you can go to eat where you don’t feel hurried, so give it a go, whether it’s for lunch or for a big celebration meal you want to linger over.
At lunchtime take your pick from Salads, Tarte Flambee, Flatbreads, Steaks and Burgers from the grill, and (currently) mains like Smoked Louisiana Jambalaya, Exmouth Mussels and Seafood Linguine Pasta. Those mains stay on the menu for the evening but you might also be tempted by the likes of Keralan Tamarind & Coconut Fish Curry and Char Grilled Chicken Breast. Smugglers Kitchen also does pizzas and calzones to make your mouth water, including Moroccan Lamb, Spicy Spanish Chorizo, Goats Cheese & Thyme and Garlic King Prawn.
If you’d rather grab a takeaway, that’s fine; choose from pizzas, salads and burgers, which will more than fill a gap.
