The Manor Mill, Branscombe, Devon

The Manor Mill at Branscombe is owned by the National Trust and you know how they like to preserve things, so thanks to them you can get an understanding of the life a miller lived in the 19th  century. The Mill is in full working order although the wheel won’t turn if the leat is too dry. It was a busy old place this, in its day, grinding wheat used to make bread at The Old Bakery, and barley and oats for animal feed. The Manor Mill is just off the South West Coast Path and it’s such a tranquil place it makes a nice little diversion or even a stopping point for your packed lunch.
