The Rising Sun Inn, Bath, Somerset

A traditional pub with a modern twist so it’s all light and airy and crisp and fresh, and it feels really welcoming. And it is – the staff are friendly, even finding the time to make a fuss of your dog. What they like to shout about is how local their food is – and why not? Old Spot pork sausages and freshly dug potatoes come from farms a mile or so outside the city. From the main menu are homemade fish pie, spinach & falafel burger, Hunter’s chicken, and homemade beef goulash. They’ve got a few awards and have been nominated in the Bath Good Food Awards for best fish & chips more than once, so that’s got to be worth trying. The other thing is the location – it’s just off the main street in Bath, not far at all from Pulteney Bridge; nice.
