Turn Hill Nature Reserve, High Ham, Nr Langport, Somerset

At 100m above sea level you can imagine the views from Turn Hill; they really are incredible, stretching out over the area known as Sedgemoor to the Quantock Hills in the distant. This is one of those spots where the tranquillity is overwhelming; you can just sit on the grass watching flowers nod their heads in the breeze and butterflies flitting lazily about, or lean against a tree and gather your thoughts.Turn Hill was given to the National Trust by the Bellot family, in memory of their son who spent a lot of time here and sadly lost his life in the Somme in 1918; there is an inscription on one of the pillars at the entrance. Take a picnic and just enjoy the beauty and the peacefulness.
