The barns are built of the local Moolham stone and have a wealth of rustic character in the exposed bricks, cast iron wall braces, chunky oak beams, and skirting boards and window sills made of timber from the estate. It’s a lovely blend of traditional charm, contemporary furnishings and modern luxury, right down to the individual temperature control in each room.
Beaverbrook 20 is tucked away in a tiny hamlet in South Somerset. On the doorstep are miles and miles of beautiful countryside to discover; just across the lane a footpath takes you through the fields to the picturesque village of Dowlish Wake where you can stop for lunch at the New Inn or fill your baskets at the farm shop at Perry’s Cider. Pop down to Ilminster, browse the independent shops and have a bite to eat at No 57. If you prefer big name shops it won’t take you long to get to Clarks Village where you can snap up plenty of bargains. Antiques and retro fans will like the Antiques Bazaar at Crewkerne, and the upbeat vibe of the vintage quarter at Bridport.
This area isn’t short of historic houses and glorious gardens either - Montacute House, Forde Abbey and Barrington Court are all close by. If you’re thinking of family days out head over to the beaches of the Jurassic Coast, less than 45 minutes away, and spend time by the sea. At Lyme Regis you can visit Dinosaurland Fossil Museum and the Marine Aquarium at the end of the harbour, join a guided fossil hunt at Charmouth, or go to Beer and ride the train around the gardens at Pecorama, then have crab sandwiches by the shore at Ducky’s Beach Café.
