House On The Hill has seen the most amazing transformation from old grain barns and milking sheds to supersize holiday house sleeping 20 guests in 8 ensuite bedrooms. With room for 4 more guests at an extra charge each, this is the perfect group accommodation for days away with friends and families. You’d be hard pushed to find a more spectacular setting; peace and quiet, surrounded by the gentle folds of the Cranborne Chase AONB on the border of Wiltshire and Dorset.

Wake up each morning to views that roll on and on to meet the sky; at night the only light you’ll see is 10 miles away at the top of Salisbury Cathedral. With a heated pool (1st April to end of October), games room, movie room and huge grounds, you’ll probably be happy as crickets, but if you want to venture out, start off by exploring the network of footpaths and bridleways right on the doorstep. While away a few hours with a leisurely amble to Ebbesbourne Wake for lunch at the The Horseshoe Inn, stroll along the river, looking out for wildlife as you go. You can cycle for miles, there’s good fishing nearby and if you like golf, Rushmoor Park Golf Club isn’t far.

Go and discover the medieval streets of Shaftesbury, visit the Abbey and climb the famous cobbled Gold Hill, with its quaint cottages and views of the Blackmore Vale. Spend a day in Salisbury and get to know this historic city, well known for its glorious cathedral with the tallest spire in England; take a tour of the tower where peregrine falcons nest. Southampton is only an hour or so away, home to an interactive model of the Titanic and SeaCity Museum.

And if history excites you, you’ll love the romantic ruins of Old Wardour Castle, or Stourhead, where temples and follies are dotted around the beautiful landscaped gardens. Venture back to prehistoric times with a trip to Stonehenge, or closer to home, Old Sarum Iron Age Hill Fort.

Head down to the coast to spend time on the sands at Bournemouth; see the phenomenal stone arch at Durdle Door, walk over the cliffs on the South West Coast Path to Lulworth Cove. Those with a taste for adventure should book up for a Treetop Challenge at Go Ape Moors Valley; if you don’t have a head for heights, opt for Segways instead. Have an outing to the New Forest where cattle and ponies roam free; visit the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, take the little ones to Peppa Pig World.

Wherever you go, whatever you do, round it off with a cosy night back at House on the Hill; if it’s warm enough have drinks on the terrace as the sun sinks below the far horizon. These are special days, time to dream, times to remember. Book your stay today!
