10/10 - The facilities were amazing, and everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves! The pool room was warm too, so lovely on a cool March morning. Karen made us feel so welcome at the start of our weekend. I can't thank you enough for providing us with such a wonderful place to spend for my best friends hen do. It was just such an idyllic setting. - Greenwood - April 24

10/10 - Enjoyed the layout of the property. Had everything we needed. The pool was a lovely touch. - Harris - March 24

10/10 - Fantastic accommodation with everything we needed. Well kept and looked after. Children loved the swimming pool and outside area. We will definitely return. Thanks.-  Hollis

10/10 - We particularly enjoyed the indoor pool as we have young grandchildren and the outdoor area was very safe. We are looking forward hopefully if all goes well to see you again next year. We all enjoyed our stay with you. Thank you to the team for making our stay so good - Nicholls

9/10 - Thorncombe was a lovely house and a great pool. Had everything you would need in the kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay and will be booking to stay again. Karen was also really helpful. - Morgan-Flood

9/10 - Loved the layout of the house and the swimming pool was great for the children. - Payne

10/10 - Nice welcome to the house. We all enjoyed the swimming pool. Lovely and clean. The house was so spacious with everything you need for an excellent stay with family and friends. We all enjoyed it so much we didn’t want to leave!!! - Dodd

9/10 - This house was great for our family and we had everything we needed. Only thing that would have been useful is shelving in the bathrooms. There wasn’t anywhere to put your toiletries or products in any of the bathrooms, so we just had to keep them in the bags on the floor. Also the bathrooms where no shower you could do with a shower door on bath so you can still shower down with the shower attachment there but would keep water off of floor easier - Leigh

9/10 - The provision for children was really nice. Lots of smaller cutlery, and plastic cups and plates. Very warm throughout. It would be amazing to come back in warmer weather to enjoy having the pool patio doors open and to use the patio and wonderful outdoor furniture. It was nice to have a log fire in lounge area as well. Minehead beach was lovely. We were to early to go on the Santa train trip as they were running the following weekend. - Davis

9/10 - The house was just a perfect setup for all the family. Tammy made sure it was lovely and clean for us on our arrival. We think the house would be improved. By adding showers to the other bedrooms. Otherwise it was fantastic. Pool was beautifully warm. Enough for our five month old granddaughter. And another thank you to Tammy. For sorting out the postage for some forgotten items. We can recommend a day out to Wookey Caves. Fun for all ages, 1 to 59. - Nicholls

9/10 - It would have got a 10 but more showers and a communal toilet would have been good. - Morrell

9/10 - The beds were slightly too hard, maybe locks on the bedroom doors. - Fraser

8/10 - We enjoyed the house and stay over the weekend. Everything was ideal - however the majority of us struggled with the bathing facilities where the bath had no wall hang and shower curtain - a very difficult showering experience for all of us who don't usually have a bath! - Shah

10/10 - The property looked exactly as pictured - not always a given - and was spotlessly clean. The set up and layout was incredibly well thought through - especially the bathroom per bedroom, two fridges and three ovens. It was brilliant for 12. And the pool was an absolute treat, the perfect temperature. It rained all weekend that we stayed but it didn’t matter as we had the pool and loads of space to hang out. The pool table is a brilliant touch also. I would 100% recommend it for a hen do weekend (it was mine and was perfect) or as a place to just bring a large group of family or friends. - Fish

10/10 - The house was lovely. Clean and we were well provided for. The pool was a lovely warm temperature of which the children enjoyed immensely. A lovely touch to be provided with a tasty dessert and wine. Ocado delivery found us with no issues. Thank you. We will be back again. We went to Watchet for the afternoon and walked along the fossil beach. - Dix

9/10 - Super house and equipment in house, bed linen and towels first class, pillows need replacing and a standard light in lounge but other than that a super stay was great for Christmas but would suit a family with young children in summer or family with dogs like us, a secure garden. - Haddock

9/10 - The house was of a high spec with everything provided. Even left a cake and wine for us to celebrate the milestone 90th birthday. Thank you so much. Only suggestion would be to have showers in the bathrooms rather than baths. - Kozlowski

8/10 - Hestercombe House and gardens was beautiful. Flying Start Stables, just up the road was fab for our little girl. We enjoyed the space of the house, particularly the large dining table. The kitchen was well stocked. Useful having 2 dishwashers and 2 fridges. The pool was so warm! The ceilings and layout was awkward with quite a lot of head banging for our tall family. I think the low staircase is dangerous. No need for it to be built like that. Barely any drawers to put your clothes so kept them in our bags. Mattresses were terribly uncomfortable. Could feel the springs so most of us did not sleep well. Very hot upstairs even without the heating on but couldn’t open the window in family room during the night as pump for pool too noisy. Other than that we enjoyed our stay, thankyou. - Allan

Response: "All mattresses have been replaced within the last 8 months, sorry if these were not to your liking. Bedrooms on the first floor have radiators which are all individually adjustable via their thermostats". - Owner

9/10 - We loved the swimming pool and the pool table (though it was missing proper balls and cue tips) and the overall spaciousness. The property was very well equipped but at least one more shower, rather than bath, would have been good. The blanket box next to the bannisters on the landing was too tempting for tiny tots to climb! Top oven didn’t seem to reach the required temperature. Loose toilet seat in Room 1, lock not working to bathroom 2. A flower vase would be good. Overall, we had a great time, loved the property and would recommend it. I can recommend a day out at Dunster Castle and Village. - Wakefield

10/10 - We have a lovely time very clean house we really enjoyed the pool. Friendly owner definitely recommend we will be in touch again, thanks for everything. - Mohammed

10/10 - Swimming pool, plenty of space without getting in each other way, didn’t realise was so close to other properties. We went Minehead and Weston-Super-Mare, for me more of a chilling stay. - Foster

8/10 - The property was lovely and it’s our 3rd time there. The beds have seen better days and could do with replacing, one of double beds in master bedroom has partially collapsed...pool table is missing a few balls and would like bathrooms to have a fixed shower, not a hand held one and don’t always have time for a bath but that’s just my personal preference. - Jordan

9/10 - The house was amazing! I had my hen weekend here and it was just perfect! There was nothing we could fault. Would love to come back again. The only problem is, taxis will not take you to any local pubs, as they say its too short a distance for them! Which was a pain, as if you walk it would take 30 mins, not good, as you are in lanes with no lights, then you get covered in mud walking up the lane by the house to get out. So unless you drive yourself once there, a taxi will not come out. Which was hard for us as we all were drinking as it was a hen weekend. So just bear that in mind. - Skinner

6/10 - The experience would have been improved by a couple of things. I understand this was prob out of the owners controls but a Hen Weekend in the house next door was very loud and particularly on the Sat night went on until 4am keeping some of our party awake... so not the relaxing weekend hoped for. A small thing - could all the lamps be checked as some lamps were not working and lastly there was no hot water to wash or shower on the Monday morning which wasn’t the best. - Best

Response: "I am sorry you were disturbed by the neighbouring property. We do stipulate in our terms and conditions and our correspondence that all our properties have to consider their neighbours and their should be no outside noise after 11pm. We ask guests to contact owners if this is not adhered to so that something can be done." - Sleeps12.

10/10 - We can recommend days out to Dunster Castle, Minehead, Watchet. The pool but it became too hot and no one came to sort it out! - Wingfield

9/10 - We were there for my husband's 70th birthday celebrations with the family, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The children loved the pool, the garden and the trampoline. There were plenty of crockery, cooking implements, and saucepans for all. Two dishwashers meant that no one had to wash up, and two ridges provided plenty of space for food and drink. It was clean and well maintained and we would recommend it to anyone. We loved it so much , we have booked it for a whole week for my 70th next year. - Oddy

7/10 - The property is lovely, very spacious and the swimming pool makes it. The only drawback is only one shower. We were lucky as only four bedrooms were being used, so the bedroom was kept empty so that we all could use the shower when we wanted to. - Unsworth

8/10 - A few minor niggles did not spoil our holiday but were a little annoying - Keys provided would not open most of the doors, including two pool doors. If we had not need to keep a dog out of the pool we would have wanted to open these. Wold have liked to open the lounge doors on hot days - one small oven did not work - outside lights overlooking BBQ did not work - one ball missing from pool table - masses of fridge space but little freezer capacity. - Denham

8/10 - Watchet and Blue Anchor are lovely quaint villages. Worth a visit. Not a huge amount to do but nice to stroll round. Really enjoyed the pool. The bbq was great! Also pool table was great. Only one of the bathrooms had a shower which was disappointing. There are shower attachments for the taps in other bathrooms but it’s not the same. I few areas of the house looking a little worn now. For example flaky paint in the pool house. Carpets looking worn. A safety concern of ours was the sky light window in one of the bedrooms upstairs didn’t lock and our little one could reach and open. It would be very easy to climb and fall out!! I think if these small changes were made we would definitely return in the future. - Clayton

10/10 - The cake was such a nice touch, thank you. - Scott-Moncrieff

10/10 - House was just perfect. Thanks for having us! - Evans

10/10 - The holiday was great from start to finish, we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. The property catered for our whole family, it was fully equipped with everything that we may have needed and there was plenty of space for our big group booking. The owner Tim was lovely and very welcoming, there was even cake and two bottles of white wine in the fridge on arrival which was a lovely touch. We would all love to go back! Thank you. - Mcmillan

9/10 - We stayed at Thorncombe for a 3 night stay Easter 2019 and the whole house was lovely. Plenty of space for us all inside and the outside area. The pool was lovely and clean too. It was so nice that the owner Tim came to introduce himself and had left us a few bottles of wine and a cake which we all thought was a lovely touch. Fantastic idea having two kettles and dishwashers, we have never stayed anywhere that had that and we thought it was brilliant with there being so many of us. Also nice that tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets etc were also supplied. It is all the little touches that make your stay somewhere that little more enjoyable. The only thing we did all say was that it was a shame that there was only one walk in shower in the property as all other ensuites had baths with hand held showers. Just to top it off we have the most amazing weather. I would definitely recommend this property and Sleeps 12 as the whole experience from booking to departure was brilliant. Thanks again. - Jeffery

8/10 - Pool was lovely and we were really appreciative of the heating at the beginning of our week which was a bit chilly. Leave a list for owners to help, as they won’t know what’s wrong unless people tell them. Things like faulty blinds, missing light bulbs. Dunster Castle, Cleeve Abbey, Haynes motor museum, Kilve beach, Watchet. - Kear

Response: "All owners details can be found in the property information as well as in the Check In Details within your booking". - Sleeps 12

9/10 - The pool was lovely and the layout of the property. And the cake left for us was delicious thank you so much! - O'Connell

10/10 - The swimming pool was amazing and warm and the facilities in the property were excellent. Everything needed was there. - Tanihatu

9/10 - Definitely the pool and the trampoline were perfect for our group. Bonus points for a nice warm house too. Hand held showers not great so in our room a small table to put toiletries on instead of behind the bath where they were slightly sprayed with water when the shower was used would be good. We all enjoyed the stay and appreciated the extras in the kitchen. The local animal zoo was excellent, close encounters with a bearded lizard and a snake were very exciting for not just the children. - Rundle

10/10 - Swimming Pool was amazing and great fun - pool was very warm and great for us all, even a 5 month old baby. The gifts left for us by the owner were a very welcome surprise and a nice touch, the chocolate cake was amazing. Accommodation was superb we didn't want for anything, everything we needed was there for us. Blue Anchor Bay and Watchet were very pretty but the weather was bracing in early February. - Reynolds

9/10 - The pool was lovely and the owner was very friendly. The whole house was perfect really. Well stocked cupboards, including children’s cutlery was appreciated. Travel cost of good quality too. The only minor negative was that because of the temperature and humidity from the pool (we assume), the straps in the high chairs are a bit mouldy. We didn’t use them, hence still 9.5 out of 10, but worth noting. Thanks again for a lovely weekend. We would (and will) definitely come again. - Baxter

9/10 - We particularly enjoyed getting together with family and the pool. We can recommend days out to the coast/beach and walks generally. - Bates

10/10 - All rubbish is put in one bin. It seems unlikely that it can be sorted and recycled at plant as would be contaminated by food etc . Would have been nice to recycle. We went to Shaldon clay shooting school, Minehead and Dunster. - Withers

Response: "All our property owners take recycling very seriously and commercial ventures have to have the correct commercial waste collections in place. This makes sure that all wastes and recyclables generated from your holiday are transformed into high quality raw materials and renewable energy".- Sleeps12

9/10 - The chalet was lovely and warm as was the pool. The openness of the lounge/dining room and kitchen allowed everyone to be a part of anything going on downstairs. It would have been nice to have a couple more shower rooms rather than baths with shower attachments especially as I approach 65 and "limbo dancing" is not too easy. Overall a very enjoyable christmas break. Take a drive to Blue Anchor bay if you have a dog so as to enable it to have a good run. - Edwards

10/10 - We all had a fabulous time, occasion was my husbands 60 birthday, it was a great place that catered for all ages, would definitely recommend it and would go again. It is the perfect break for the winter months. It was extremely clean and well equipped with kitchen ware, everything you need. - Price

10/10 - House is superb - beautifully furnished, really well equipment. Great layout for big family/group. We can recommend a day out to Dunster Beach/Castle (20 minute drive). - Owen

10/10 - Property very good, clean and very well stocked. Swimming pool very good. Only one shower cubicle, shower head not too good, baths good but would have liked more showers but small detail when only staying for few days. Can recommend walking on the Quantocks. - Boulton

8/10 - Lovely property but the bathrooms would be better if they had showers instead of baths. Lovely swimming pool. - Beck

8/10 - Only 1 shower cubicle in the whole cottage, would prefer in the other rooms not showers in baths. Ensuring the garden is completely enclosed as 2 small dogs, some biggish gaps under the fence. Beautiful cottage and beautiful setting. - Cope

8/10 - We can recommend days out to The steam train from Bishops Lydeard to Blue Anchor Bay was brilliant. Also enjoyed a visit to Dunster, and a visit to Watchet. We thought the actual house was lovely, with a real wow factor. We loved the living room, which was spacious and attractive, it was good having the pool table in the living area, and the kitchen was attractive and easy to work in too. The two dishwashers were an excellent touch. The swimming pool was lovely, very warm, and big enough for our party of 11, however the tiles surrounding the pool were extremely slippery, and felt quite dangerous when wet. The main disappointment was the bedrooms, which we felt let the property down badly. The mattresses were hard, creaky and uncomfortable, and the bedding was extremely poor quality, not at all what we would expect for a five star property. The pillows were very thin and hard, and the duvets were stiff, heavy and lumpy and did not fit the duvet covers. The smallest bedroom upstairs was really too small to be a double bedroom, and although we understood the reasons why showers were not possible upstairs, due to the sloping ceilings, we did find it a problem only having one shower in the property. It would be possible to provide a second shower downstairs, for general use which would be very helpful. The shower in the downstairs bedroom was quite poor, with the plastic fitting at the bottom easily knocked out of place, and the shower head leaking badly. The toilet seats were also loose and at least one cistern was constantly running. I'm sorry to complain about all these things, as the owner was very helpful when we had a problem with the dishwashers, and came to fix it immediately. We were just a bit disappointed with the areas I have mentioned, especially the beds, and think it could be remedied, especially as the house itself was so lovely. - Ward

10/10 - The house was perfect for our needs. Modern, surprisingly more spacious than we imagined and very comfortable. The heated indoor pool was perfect for rainy days and any other day. Our children were very happy here. Days out to the sandy beach, shops, steam railway and Butlins in Minehead. Exploring Lynmouth and Lynton and riding the funicular railway. Cream teas at WatersmeetDunster Castle and shops. - Hill

10/10 - Had a lovely time here, all my family loved it very clean and lovely place, also thank you for the cake was very nice, we all enjoyed It, would recommend it to people who want a peaceful break, or a family because of its private pool and garden area which is great for kids. - Horne

10/10 - We stayed in the house pretty much the whole time, amazing place, sun, pool, BBQ and plenty of room in the massive fridges for the beer and food we bought with us. Tim came and said hi and then just left us to it. Perfect. - Beesley
