Large Holiday Homes In Somerset

Sleeps 12 have a lot of large group holiday homes in Somerset. Tell you why; apart from the fact that we live here, it’s one of the most popular parts of the West Country for holidays and the draw is understandable. It’s not just the beautiful countryside, the picturesque villages with centuries old thatched cottages and the busy little market towns where farmers sell their wares, but it’s also the pace of life – it all slows down a bit, things drop a gear or two, and that’s part of the charm.

If you’ve never been to Somerset you might have a preconceived idea of what it’s like; farmers in smocks, carrot crunching bumpkins in dungarees swilling cider, tractors everywhere and fields full of cows. Well forget that, we’re actually quite a sophisticated bunch down here and you’ll see that when you’re staying at a Sleeps 12 big country cottage. Don’t worry about the weather, our large group holiday homes have swimming pools, games rooms, hot tubs, saunas, BBQ lodges, and play areas, so there’s something for all ages and all types of stays – family holidays, gatherings with friends, birthday celebrations, and corporate breaks.

There are family attractions a-plenty, beautiful historic houses and gardens, and heaps of activities, whether you prefer golf, fishing, ten pin bowling, kayaking or water sports. But that countryside! Oh, that countryside! You really should get out there and explore it because it’s Gorgeous with a capital G! We’ve got the most amazing holiday houses for 12-30 people, tucked away amidst the hills and fields, close to Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty like the Quantock Hills, the Somerset Levels, the Blackdown Hills, and Exmoor National Park. You can go and discover it on foot, by bike, or on horseback, which is surely one of the best ways to take it all in.

Somerset has its coastline as well, a varied one of quiet bays, fossil strewn beaches and golden sands ripe for good old-fashioned bucket and spade fun, so take your pick. And we haven’t told you about the food yet! Well, as you know, farming’s pretty big down here so we have some outstanding produce and a fabulous choice of excellent places to eat that have a very strong fork to field ethic, making the most of locally grown produce and meat from animals that fed in pastures within a few miles. They’re all at it, the village pubs, restaurants, even some of the takeaways. You should try it.

And that’s another thing, the pubs. It’s hard to beat a stroll across the fields with the dog on a hazy summer’s evening to wind up in the beer garden of a welcoming country inn sipping a pint of the local brew as the sun goes down. Proper job.
