Pootle through the high hedged lanes to the tiny hamlet where Churchill 20 is set, amidst beautiful countryside in a peaceful corner of South Somerset. Come and lap up contemporary country living with a big helping of luxury and spectacular far reaching views; age-old farm buildings have been given a new lease of life incorporated into an extraordinary large group holiday house with a private indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, games room and huge living room/movie room.

From the glass fronted balcony at the front of the house are uninterrupted views of glorious countryside that stretch out across to the Blackdown Hills AONB. Just across the lane a little church stands next to the farmyard; climb the stile in the hedge and stroll through the fields to Dowlish Wake, a picturesque village of golden Hamstone cottages. Call in to The New Inn for a pub lunch, wander up to Perry’s Cider for a pint of their golden brew in the orchard, tuck into a big fat cream tea in the café, fill your basket with local goodies in the farm shop.

Good for a browse is Ilminster, just a couple of miles down the road; have a look round the independent shops, buy meat from the award-winning butchers, veg from the greengrocers. Amble up the hill to No 57, peruse the antiques and vintage, stop for tea and a chat, see the latest art exhibition at  The Meeting House.

If you’ve got kids on board you’ll find plenty to keep them amused round these parts; see the UK’s biggest collection of cars and motorbikes at Haynes Motor Museum, put the pedal to the metal on the go-karting track. Little animal lovers will delight in a trip to Ferne Animal Sanctuary where there are trails and activities; plan a day out to stop at Axe Valley Wildlife Park before heading to the beach at Lyme Regis where you can get close up to sea life at the Marine Aquarium or take a boat trip around the bay and along the beautiful Jurassic coastline. Watch the happy donks cavorting in the fields at The Donkey Sanctuary, then head on to Sidmouth to make sandcastles and explore the rockpools at low tide. Use our Places To Visit page for heaps more inspiration for days out.

Fill your lungs with wholesome fresh air tramping around the ramparts at Ham Hill Country Park where the views are panoramic. Pack a picnic and venture out into the Blackdown Hills for a day of discovery, watch ducks a-dabbling at Otterhead Lakes, follow the forest trail at Castle Neroche or the winding paths at Wayford Woods, dense with rhododendrons in the springtime. Be together making memories, a very special one being the simplicity of watching the sun set over the hills when you’re out on the balcony at Churchill 20. This magic. This is precious.
